April 1954
The Club's first National Championship Gold Medal was won by Max Watt second in the single surf ski.

April 1961
New clubhouse opened by (Sir) His Honour Judge Adrian Curlewis President SLSA.

April 1992
Exchange Lifeguards Movie Production/ Club Fundraiser, starring Elliot Gould, Christopher Atkins, Julian Mc Mahon.
Filmed at the Club, on the beach and in the water, with most of the club participating, as stunt doubles, extras, water safety liaison etc. President Warren Young, Rick Millar and the boaties, Pete Akehurst, Roger Sayers, Bill Wall, Johnny Harper, Jason Brown and other IRB Drivers and crews, Melinda Akehurst, Karen Fisher, Belinda Sayers, Hector Heathcote, all taking time off to have fun while raising significant funds for the club. The World Premiere was at the Avalon Theatre, and the film was released in the US as ''Wet and Wild Summer''.
April 1993
National Surfboat Champions - A Open Boat Crew:.Rick Millar, Nathan Press, Brent Walker, Daryl Johnson. Michael (Hector) Heathcote.
Their win, the first for Avalon Beach SLSC, was so significant, lifting club enthusiasm and local community spirits. Warren Young President wrote: "What a welcome home! (from Kurrawa) Our Boat Crew was given a hero's welcome,. A parade through the streets of Avalon led by the original Freshie Jazz Band, the winning boat and our crew sporting their trophies."
April 1998
A2B4C - Craig Goozee headed off from the club in March 1998, to paddle a surf ski from Avalon to Broadbeach, arriving early April to hand over the Gold Medal for the ski event at the Aussies, raising funds for Cancer research along the way...Craig's support team were club and local community and family members.
