NSW Surf Life Saving Clubs within the Manly electorate are being encouraged to apply for their share of $5.4 million in funding for the upgrade, restoration or construction of facilities.

Member for Manly, James Griffin said applications are now open for the Surf Club Facility Program with grants of up to $1 million on offer.

“We already know we are in for a hot Spring and Summer, and it is critical our Surf Life Saving Clubs are prepared to protect the influx of beach goers in coming months,” Mr Griffin said.

“This program is about making sure surf clubs have the resources they need, including facilities that are modern, accessible and fit for purpose.

“Our local volunteer surf lifesavers are incredibly dedicated and committed to keeping our community safe and any support we can give them is extremely important.

“This funding will continue to build on the enormous investment made by the former Liberal and Nationals Government, so I would encourage Manly Electorate clubs to apply,” Mr Griffin said.

Grants allocated locally in the previous round and announced in February 2024 are in: Surf Club Facility Program 2024 Allocations are Great News for North Narrabeen, Mona Vale, South Curl Curl

The Program aims to keep surf life saving clubs modern and accessible, helping surf life savers to better protect beachgoers.

Projects that encourage the participation of women and girls, people with disability, First Nations peoples, people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, and LGBTQIA+ are a priority of the Program.

Grants will be awarded across three categories for projects that involve the upgrade, restoration or construction of new surf life saving facilities.
  • Category 1 offers grants up to $100,000 for facility improvement projects and closes on 14 October 2024
  • Category 2 offers grants up to $400,000 for small-medium construction projects and
