Established as a private sanctuary 90 years ago by J.D. Tipper, an early conservationist, Muogamarra has grown and become a Nature Reserve on the Hawkesbury River under the control of NSW National Parks and Wildlife.

Being a Nature Reserve it is off-limits to the public except for a short season in Spring when guided access must be booked.
