Even when the weather seems to be bleak & wild, there is beauty in nature. – Joe Mills
Lake Turimetta was the usual rhythmic lapping of waves on the shoreline. The mornings were cool, with light winds and pleasant. Early in the week, mornings were wet & cloudy.
The sand is moving again, with both the northern & southern rocks covered up again. The popular swimming spot called The Gutter is full of sand, and cannot be recognised.
The big flock of cormorants has moved north.
Some of the pics included:
- Turimetta sunrises
- Southern & northern ends of Turimetta Beach
- Narrabeen Headland rock pool & sunrise
- Textures & patterns
- Circular rock pool at low tide
- Tidal flats at low tide northern end
- Winter flowering
Enjoy the pics.
Turimetta Moods
Week ending 4 August 2023
The morning steals upon the night, melting the darkness. – William Shakespeare
Lake Turimetta was a rhythmic lapping of waves on the shoreline. The mornings were cool, with light winds and pleasant. The walkers came out in numbers.
The sand returned at the northern end, covering all the rocks, but there was less sand at the southern end. Each environment had its own beauty.
As usual, I was able to get some photos at the adjoining rock pool and Narrabeen Lake entrance. This week was the Pelican week. However, all the birds, ducks etc are pairing off, and gathering nesting material.
Some of the pics included:
- Turimetta sunrises & rock outcrops
- Berry Park Reserve & water fowl
- High tide stranded pools
- Southern end Turimetta Beach
- Narrabeen lake entrance (Currently blocked by sand)
- Narrabeen Headland rock pool & sunrise
- Pelicans fishing in shallow rock pools
- Winter flowering
Enjoy the pics.

Turimetta Moods
Week Ending 28 July 2023
Everyone on a beach during a sunrise will stop, sit or stand (or photograph) and be mesmerised by the unfolding beauty. - Joe Mills
The main change this week was the milder weather & continuing light winds. The front beach sand is being slowly eroded, with more rocks & rock shelfs being exposed. The sand has moved offshore, with the waves dumping about 50 m off the shoreline.
Due to the milder conditions, more people are also returning for beach walks & rock pool swimming.
The pictures covered the following:
- Turimetta Beach sunrises (Northern end)
- Rocks & rock shelfs at the southern end
- Cormorants on the sand bars at Lake Narrabeen entrance
- Lone Cormorant fishing
- Ground plants
- Kookaburra
- White Faced Heron searching for food amongst rocks
- Cloud reflections at Lake Narrabeen entrance
