Cranky Fins Holidae Inn

Cranky Fins Holidae Inn
If you like fresh whole foods and usually seek this kind of fare when venturing outside the home kitchen then Cranky Fins Holidae Inn will fulfil your palate.
Thursday night we decided to try out this relatively new restaurant on the corner of Barrenjoey and Beach roads.

The fare is a mix of Spanish influenced Mexican – ingredients combine traditional tastes with the best of local produce to create dishes where each element complements the other.
We asked what the speciality of the house was, or what everyone else went for - the Tacos – they’re tapas style, in three varieties. We tried Spiced Fish with Pico De Gallo, avocado, fennel and Chipolte Mayo (2 for $15) and Haloumi with Zucchini, Charred Corn, Gucamole and Tomato (2 for $12). Perfect.
These can also be enjoyed on Taco Wednesdays when Tacos are $5 and Margaritas $10 all day.
We shared a generous portion sized main from their new Autumn Menu – Grilled Bluefin Tuna with White Beans, whole roasted peppers, baby spinach, and olives topped with Romesco; a light sauce made from roasted tomatoes, roasted red capsicum, garlic, hazelnut and almonds ($26) – one of several seafood dishes on the menu that demonstrates an understanding of how to enhance seafood.
All this accompanied by a Margarita – lots of lime, a thick crust of salt, and you can get them with a chilli salt rim – yummo!
Head Chef Craig Ferrier has Big Roasts planned for Winter and their Autumn Menu has commenced with lots of dishes that celebrate the earthy ingredients in season. With a Kids Menu, vegetarian dishes, regular weekend specials, Taco Wednesdays, fast delivery to table and great staff Cranky Fins Holidae Inn is Family Friendly, perfect for girls and boys get togethers and a place we shall frequent.
