Seniors Week Fashion Parade
Words and Images by Michael Mannington
As part of Pittwater’s Seniors Week celebrations, the Nelson Heather Centre again featured their annual fashion parade. The theme for this year's show was Autumn and Winter. Garments for the ladies were supplied by Millers of Warriewood and for the gentlemen Lowes of Warriewood. Centre Coordinator Michelle Ford compered the show which featured seven models. The show had a range of formal, casual and sleepwear and for the coming season scarfs are in. The fashion show was followed by lunch with entertainment provided by British composer, singer and guitarist Keff McCulloch.
Michelle said the fashion parade is just one of the fun activities of Seniors Week at the Centre. The Seniors Week open day also provided a chance for older residents to ‘have-a-go’ at various activities including bowling, table tennis, dancing and bridge. Also exhibiting their activities were the Knitters Guild NSW. Established 26 years ago the Northern group meets on the third Saturday of each month. The University of the Third Age (U3A) provides an opportunity to expand the mind with expert lectures on a wide range of subjects.
